Shell and Thread
2026, Paper pulp, watercolor-dyed paper and paper, Dimension variable, Installation view from When Memory Ticks
Shell and Thread began from emotions and memories that have already passed. A pile of hollow paper pulp shells is precariously stacked on the floor. Although the shells were cast from solid stones, they remain fragile and easily breakable, representing past memories and emotions—things that no longer have a physical form.
A single paper thread passes through the shells, suggesting my inability to move on from the remnants of memories that remain only as empty forms. Some of the shells contain water and pigment, and over time, the pigment slowly travels along the paper thread. The color moves gradually, leaving marks on the paper pulp surface. This process becomes a small attempt to bring absent memories into the present.
